Villa Sariaya

March 1, 2015

Hello from Friar Nikko and Maria Clara Janna!

We had the chance to visit Villa Sariaya, a declared Heritage House by the National Heritage Institute. It is located in Sariaya, Quezon, my hometown, which is truly rich in historical, socio-cultural, and religious heritage.

Masinloc Eco-Tour: Giant Clam/Taklobo Farm, Mangroves Forest Island, Bacala Guesthouse, and San Salvador Island

June 20, 2015

Spent our 11th anniversary by taking part of the Ecotour provided by the exquisite municipality of Masinloc, Zambales, which according to Guinness, is home of the sweetest mangoes in the world! We had a once-in-a-lifetime experience by snorkeling, seeing giant clams, corals, and mangroves, eating delicious seafood at the Bacala Guest House, and enjoying the clear waters, and fine, white sand of San Salvador Island. The municipality of Masinloc is also notable for being smoke-free! It means, no cigarettes are allowed in the whole town, and fresh, clean air could be enjoyed by everyone!

We should be able to offer this package tour through our newly launched travel agency, which we’d like to call Couple Meets World Travel & Tours. It will be part of this website, so stay tuned!

Balatoc Mines Tour

June 13, 2015

We became miners for a day through the Benguet Corporation Balatoc Mines Tour, which is the first and only mining attraction in the Philippines. Aside from seeing actual equipment used by gold miners in the 1950’s, we were able to go inside the Vegas Tunnel. The highlight of the tour was witnessing an actual dynamite explosion and experiencing a blast/shock wave.

Trolley Ride (a.k.a. Skate System)

The trolley/skate system is a common mode of transportation in rural areas that are near the railroad system. Skates are usually motorized and the ride is truly enjoyable.

We had the chance to rent out a trolley in Brgy. Lutucan, Sariaya, Quezon for just P150 (round-trip) but the fare is usually P10. We told the driver we just wanted to try it out and we really had no destination. Our trip took 45 minutes. It was Nikko’s first time but Janna had been on it a couple of times before.

You need to watch our video below to get a grasp of the trolley system but you’re gonna need to try it to fully appreciate it:

Majayjay Falls / Taytay Falls / Imelda Falls

May 30, 2015

Majayjay Falls (a.k.a. Taytay Falls and Imelda Falls) is situated in the province of Laguna. We took a side trip to the falls, when we visited our province, Sariaya, Quezon over the weekend. It involved a 10-minute trek, with the scenic view of the Mt. Banahaw, to get to it.

Since it was a Saturday, there were a lot of people but that didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time swimming in the very cool and clear water.
